Description
This Stefano Santambrogio Straight Billiard Tobacco Pipe came to us from a private collection. The pipe is in excellent condition considering it has been previously used. The pipe has wonderful accents and a marbled stem, and the stem accepts a 9mm filter.
The pipe you see is the pipe you get. This pipe came to us from a private collection, and where necessary, has been expertly restored by a local craftsman. This pipe was previously smoked but has been completely and professionally reconditioned and sanitized. Because it has been pre-owned, the price is drastically reduced compared to what this pipe would cost new (assuming that you could even find it). We stand behind these pipes; if you ever have an issue, return it to us for repair or refund.

About Stefano Santambrogio Tobacco Pipes
In the world of pipe smoking, few names carry the quiet prestige and artisanal heritage of Stefano Santambrogio. Based in Gavirate, in the province of Varese, Italy, the Santambrogio name represents over a century of tradition in crafting high-quality briar tobacco pipes — a lineage of makers that today stands among the rare historic workshops still producing pipes in a predominantly manual fashion.
The Santambrogio story begins in 1912 with the founder, also named Stefano Santambrogio, who left factory work in local pipe manufacturers to start his own production in a renovated watermill. Over the following decades the company grew tremendously, employing over 130 workers and producing roughly 100,000 pipes per month at its peak in the 1930s and ’40s, with exports to markets around the world.
After the founder’s death in 1951, the business passed through family hands. In 1981, the current Stefano Santambrogio — born into the craft in 1952 and steeped in its tradition from childhood — took over the workshop. Today, he works closely with his wife, Sara, and a small team to maintain the family’s artisanal legacy, shifting away from mass production toward handcrafted, limited-quantity pipes where each piece reflects meticulous attention to design, balance, and functionality.
Santambrogio pipes are celebrated for their classic yet distinctive aesthetics. They typically feature clean, harmonious lines and balanced proportions, marrying tradition with subtle creativity. The briar wood used is of high-quality Italian provenance and naturally seasoned, ensuring both beauty and performance in the finished pipe.
Many of his designs incorporate elegantly polished finishes, often in warm tones — from rich mahogany reds to amber hues — and may include acrylic or ebony mouthpieces, handcrafted and tailored to the pipe’s profile. This focus on both form and function results in pipes that are not only attractive but also excellent smokers, offering consistent, cool draws appreciated by aficionados and casual smokers alike.
Though considered something of an insider’s favorite on markets like Germany and beyond, Santambrogio’s pipes maintain an excellent price-to-quality ratio, making them appealing to enthusiasts seeking artisanal Italian craftsmanship without the premiums of more widely known luxury brands.
In a tobacco pipe landscape where industrial production dominates, Stefano Santambrogio’s work stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of traditional craftsmanship, carrying forward a family passion for creating beautiful, functional smoking instruments that honor a legacy over 100 years in the making.
