Description

This pipe is the predecessor of the Julius Caesar series by Lorenzetti. Named after four of history’s most famous Roman Emperors, each pipe of the Emperor line is primarily distinguished by the colour of its finish. In addition to these differences, like fine Italian wines, each line carries a selection of styles to suit even the most discriminating palate.  These pipes are an incredible value - they are made of top quality briar but are not expensively priced. They have quietly grown to be one of our best selling pipes as consumers discover this hidden gem of the pipe world.

All Emperor series pipes come with an installed plastic plug which you can remove to allow a 9mm filter.  The stem is easily removed from the shank as the latter is lined with cork.

The pipe shown is part of the 3300 (Julius Caesar) series; pipes in this series have a bowl and shank that is highly polished, with a reddish hue.

Other features include:

  • Stamping of the series and model on the shank of the pipe
  • Trademark banding where the shank meets the stem
  • Optional 9mm insert (sold separately)
  • Black acrylic stem

The pipe shown here is shape 22.

The pipe you see is the pipe you get. This pipe came to us from a private collection, and where necessary, has been expertly restored by a local craftsman. This particular pipe has not been previously smoked and is in "good as new" condition. Because it has been pre-owned, the price is drastically reduced compared to what this pipe would cost new (assuming that you could even find it). We stand behind these pipes; if you ever have an issue, return it to us for repair or refund. Note: Tobacco pipe stands used in the pictures are for photography purposes only and are not included.

About Lorenzetti Pipes

Lorenzetti Pipes first started with Otello Lorenzetti in 1934 when he began to create some of the best handcrafted briar pipes. After serving in the military, Lorenzetti founded his company, looking to make his mark on the world. This was despite his missing education, a common situation of the time he lived.

Born the youngest of five children, Lorenzetti had a passion for working hard which was only equaled by his passion for singing. In the earliest of his pipe making days, neighbours would remark how he would craft his pipes for up to twelve hours each day, all while serenading them with the tenor voice that got him into the school of singing at the Cathedral of Recanati.

Traveling around through neighbouring towns, Lorenzetti would sell his smoking pipes to various shops and tobacconists. His craftsmanship made his pipes more popular, earning him a reputation for his fine work. At one point, his pipes gained the attention of the former Italian President Sandro Pertini, a known pipe connoisseur.

When making their tobacco pipes, the Lorenzetti company takes great care to ensure the highest quality briar is used while following the tried-and-true crafting practices. After undergoing a drying and seasoning process, the wood is carefully inspected, cut, shaped, polished, and inspected again before being deemed worthy of sale. Lorenzetti only sends out their best pipes. If it does not meet their satisfaction, it is not a Lorenzetti pipe.

To this day, Otello’s legacy lives on, as his grandson Alessandro Lorenzetti still carries on the tradition of crafting these beautiful briar pipes.
