Description
This Don Florian Original is serial numbered 3267. It has the shape of a tomato or apple smoking pipe but with a quarter bent saddle stem. The briar is absolutely flawless and the pipe is in excellent condition considering it has been previously used. The bowl has a substantial girth with a deeper than average chimney, and the stem accepts a 9mm filter.
The pipe you see is the pipe you get. This pipe came to us from a private collection, and where necessary, has been expertly restored by a local craftsman. This pipe was previously smoked but has been completely and professionally reconditioned and sanitized. Because it has been pre-owned, the price is drastically reduced compared to what this pipe would cost new (assuming that you could even find it). We stand behind these pipes; if you ever have an issue, return it to us for repair or refund.
Tobacco pipe stands used in the pictures are for photography purposes only and are not included. Comes with a branded Don Florian pipe bag.

About Don Florian Tobacco Pipes
Don Florian tobacco pipes represent a niche but respected segment of the artisan pipe world, combining classic craftsmanship with distinctive Italian flair. These pipes are entirely handmade in Italy by the craftsman Matteo Stefani, whose dedication to traditional methods and high-grade materials sets his work apart in a market dominated by mass production.
Unlike large factory brands that produce pipes in volume, Don Florian is essentially a one-man, small-batch producer. Matteo’s journey began in the early 2000s when he rekindled his interest in smoking pipes while pursuing a legal career. After experimenting with carving his own pipes, he transitioned into serious pipe making around 2008, refining his techniques and developing an unmistakable style rooted in freehand shaping and natural finishes.
At the heart of Don Florian pipes is an almost purist approach to materials. Only the finest extra-extra grade plateaux briar — sourced from regions like Calabria and Corsica — is selected for use. This briar undergoes a minimum five-year seasoning process, allowing excess moisture to evaporate and stabilizing the wood for optimal smoking performance. The result is a briar that is exceptionally resistant to heat and cracking while delivering a cool, satisfying smoke from the first light.
Matteo’s philosophy rejects modern machine tooling in favor of traditional hand tools — using only rasps and progressively finer abrasives to shape each pipe. This method not only reflects historical pipe crafts but also ensures that no two Don Florian pipes are exactly alike. Each piece is a “one-off” creation with unique grain patterns, contours, and character. Natural colors of the wood are preserved and enhanced solely with Carnauba wax, with no artificial stains or fillers introduced.
The result is a collection of pipes that appeal to both smokers and collectors alike. Freehand fan shapes and free-shape designs dominate the lineup, emphasizing artistic expression as much as functional quality. Many aficionados praise the natural aesthetic — where the grain and imperfections of the wood become part of the pipe’s visual and tactile appeal.
Because of their handcrafted nature and careful material selection, Don Florian pipes are often compared to high-end artisan pieces that can cost significantly more. Reviews and product listings from specialty tobacco retailers describe these pipes as offering performance and quality that rival offerings ten times their typical price point.
Collectors on pipe forums also note that Don Florian works can be prized as conversational pieces. Some larger or unusual shapes — such as oversized “behemoth” or freeform designs — become centerpiece items in a pipe rack even when not used regularly for smoking. Anecdotes suggest that many owners value the artistic quality of the pipes as much as their performance.
In a world where factory lines produce thousands of near-identical pipes, Don Florian stands out for its human touch. Each pipe carries with it the story of careful briar selection, patience in seasoning, and hours of hand carving — qualities that make these pipes more than tools for smoking, but genuine pieces of functional art.
