About the Hunting Pipe - the Famous Annual Series From Erik Nording
The idea was to make a unique pipe where the shape and colour brought out the characteristics of a wild animal. Each pipe includes a drawing and a short explanation describing the animal selected for that year’s edition and is delivered in a beautiful tube. Erik Nording asked Mr. Mogens Andersen - who was one of Denmark’s finest illustrators of wild game - to make a drawing of the ultimate hunting pipe. The first hunting pipe was presented in 1995.
The Badger 2025
This year (2025) our Hunting Pipe has been inspired by the European Badger. The Badger has a small head, a stocky body, small black eyes, and a short tail. Its adult weight is around 10-15 kg. The European Badger is found in deciduous and mixed woodlands, clearings, spinneys, pastureland and scrub. It's a powerful and very muscular built fellow, easily identified by its characteristic black-and-white striped face. The long fur of the body is a dark silvery-grey on the back and flanks, frequently interspersed with lighter brown hairs that can give a beige or even gingery appearance. Maybe without knowing it, you might already be familiar with the fur of the Badger since it has been used for centuries for making the finest shaving brushes.
The overall sturdiness of the Badger has of course inspired this year’s model of the Hunting Pipe. The Badger’s characteristic "Salt & Pepper" colour scheme is clearly represented in our choice of the mouthpiece, and the dark brown/black staining of the bowl and shank mimics the Badgers preferred surroundings. We have decided on two finishes of the bowl - a full smooth surface or a semi-rusticated made in our typical rustication style to emphasize the woodland roughness.
This year’s pipe is too big for the standard tube, so the tube will be sent with the drawing inside, and the accompanying pipe will be sent in a branded Nørding box. Also, due to variations in briar and staining the appearance of the pipe you receive may vary slightly from the images.

Erik is still very much involved in the business and he still produces a few handmade high-grade pipes on his own. Knud Nørding - Erik’s son - is managing the sales and marketing worldwide. The third generation and Knud's son, Victor, is involved in the sales and marketing activities along with Margarita Nørding, Knud's wife.
