The “vegvisir” was a kind of runic compass. It was a Viking rune stave, a magical device used to aid in sea navigation. According to several legends, this protective symbol was inscribed on seagoing vessels to insure their safe return. The most common depiction of the rune Compass comes from the 17th century Galdrabok, an Icelandic Grimoire.
The Nørding MacArthur tobacco smoking pipe is a Danish interpretation of the Poker pipe made in a combination of quality Briar wood and gunmetal coloured Aluminum for the shank. With the 17mm chimney tobacco chamber the pipe is an excellent smoke and will quickly become one of your most cherished pipes. A Churchwarden shank and stem can be fitted for a slightly cooler smoke because this pipe comes with two stems. All compass pipes are delivered with a grey bag with the Compass symbol. About Nørding Pipes
Nørding Pipes is the brainchild of Denmark’s Erik Nørding. What started as a passionate hobby in the late 1950s has since evolved into a multi-generational family-driven business. Erik Nørding turned 80 in 2019 and has been making pipes professionally for more than 55 years. Erik is still very much involved in the business and he still produces a few handmade high-grade pipes on his own. Knud Nørding – Erik’s son – is managing the sales and marketing worldwide. The third generation and Knud’s son, Victor, is involved in the sales and marketing activities along with Margarita Nørding, Knud’s wife.
Nørding is a family-owned pipe factory located just outside of Copenhagen in Denmark.
